Title Sprint

Twenty titles in three minutes. Then pick the one with a song in it.

A few minutes. Nothing is saved until you choose to.

What you are training

Professional songwriters keep a hook book, a running list of titles and phrases with a song hiding inside them, and they generate far more than they use. The sprint trains the muscle: from a prompt, produce as many titles as you can in a short window, without judging, then rank the best three. Volume first, taste second. Most people find their tenth title is better than their first, which is the whole lesson: the good idea is usually behind several ordinary ones, and a writer who stops at the first decent phrase never reaches it. This drill runs the sprint with a timer and a prompt, then asks you to choose. The reveal scores the set on specificity, tension, and singability, the three things that separate a phrase from a title. It takes three minutes and changes how you start a song.

After this drill, the plan: The daily plan pairs sprints with hook placement, so the title you keep lands where the chorus needs it.
