Song Form Builder

Arrange the sections so the chorus arrives on time.

A few minutes. Nothing is saved until you choose to.

What you are training

Form is the order of sections and the timing of the payoff, and it decides whether a listener stays. Verse-chorus with a bridge before the last chorus is the most common shape because it works: the idea returns three times, and the bridge earns the last return by changing the angle. But the same sections in a different order tell a different story, a pre-chorus can rescue a chorus that arrives cold, and a song that reaches its chorus too late loses the listener before it gets there. This drill gives you a set of sections with their jobs and asks you to order them for a stated goal, then checks the timing of the first chorus and the placement of the bridge. The reveal explains what each order does to the listener. It is the fastest way to learn why the songs you love are shaped the way they are.

After this drill, the plan: The daily plan follows this with section building, where you write the missing pre-chorus for a verse and chorus that do not yet connect.
